Support

In order to best assist you, we have developed this interactive form which based upon your selections will provide responses to commonly requested information, and if needed, connect you to the appropriate MA World Services Volunteers best suited to support you.

Keep coming back!

MA meetings from around the world can be found within the Meeting Finder. Meetings begin at the designated time so it is suggested to arrive early--especially if you have questions. The Meeting Finder automatically translates meeting times into your local time.

Meetings are listed as “Open to Non-Addicts,” or “For Addicts Only.”
Meetings listed “For Addicts Only,” are available to MA members, anyone identifying as a marijuana addict, and newcomers with the desire to quit using marijuana. “The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using marijuana.” ~MA Third Tradition. You do not have to be sober to attend meetings, but you may be asked to just observe, if you’ve recently used marijuana.

ALL are welcome in meetings listed as “Open to Non-Addicts,” including those listed above, and those interested in learning more about the MA program, such as loved ones affected by another’s marijuana use, medical professionals, students, and anyone else.

Meetings can be attended Online, by Phone, and In-Person when available. There are a variety of meeting formats such as Topic/Discussion, Newcomer, Step Study, Speaker, etc. Additional filters will narrow the meeting results. When using these filters it is suggested to apply only 1-3 per search.

Many ask if they need to register before attending a meeting. With In-Person and Phone meetings there is no need to register. Some of the Online meetings require registration such as District 13 online text-based meetings. When attending Video Conferencing online meetings such as Zoom it is suggested to have a free Zoom account and maintain updates.

Sharing contact information during meetings is an excellent resource for Peer Support. To maintain anonymity, many members create a new email address as many have their last name included within their email address. Some also sign up for free online voice services to have a phone number different from their personal number, such as Google Voice

“The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using marijuana.” ~Marijuana Anonymous 3rd Tradition

“Marijuana Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share our experience, strength, and hope with each other that we may solve our common problem and help others to recover from marijuana addiction.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using marijuana. There are no dues or fees for membership. We are self-supporting through our own contributions. MA is not affiliated with any religious or secular institution or organization, and has no opinion on any outside controversies or causes. Our primary purpose is to stay free of marijuana and to help the marijuana addict who still suffers achieve the same freedom. We can do this by practicing our suggested Twelve Steps of recovery and by being guided as a group by our Twelve Traditions.” ~What is Marijuana Anonymous?

MA meetings are listed as “Open to Non-Addicts” or “For Addicts Only.” Meetings that are listed as “For Addicts Only” are available to MA members, such as anyone who identifies as a marijuana addict, a newcomer, and with a desire to quit.

ALL are welcome in any meeting listed as “Open to Non-Addicts,” the members listed above, as well as those interested in learning more about the MA program, such as those affected by another’s marijuana use, and medical professionals or students.

MA often receives questions about how to prove that a person attended a meeting. There are various reasons, such as returning to work, for the courts, parole officer, etc. The person you are reporting to may have certain requirements, and we suggest you receive guidance from them prior to beginning this process.

MA Meetings can be attended Online, by Phone, and In-Person (where available) and Meeting Verification can be received at most of these meetings.

In-Person meetings are the simplest form of acquiring Meeting Verification. You may have already received a required paper to collect Meeting Secretary signatures, if not, ask the person who is requiring you to attend meetings for guidance. If there are no In-Person MA meetings in your area, consider attending a different 12 Step group, or try the Marijuana Anonymous Online and Phone meetings.

For Online meetings we suggest you arrive early to ask the Meeting Host or Co-Host, privately in the chat, to confirm if they are willing to email your proof of attendance. At the end of the meeting, provide your name and email address to the Host or Co-Host and if needed, let them know it is as simple as emailing the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Meeting Name
  • Date & Time of Attendance

MA Phone meetings have their own system for Meeting Verification, which applies to Phone meetings only. Within 48 hrs of attending a phone meeting send an email to attendance@ma-phone.org and include the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Date & Time of Attendance
  • Chairperson's Name (Person who ran the meeting)
  • Topic of the Meeting

MA Phone meetings typically respond within 48 hours of receiving your request.

More Support For You
Marijuana addiction in children, spouses, or other loved ones is difficult to live with in healthy ways. You need support also. Some options are 12 Step groups and other support services for friends and family, like church groups and therapy. These resources can teach you how to live your life more fully, regardless of what your loved ones are doing. You may have the opportunity to discuss the unique problem of living with a loved one’s addiction. It is important to remember that addiction is a disease which greatly affects the addict and those who love the addict.

Mar-Anon is a 12-Step program designed specifically for those who are affected by another’s marijuana use.

A volunteer member will do their best to contact you within 48 hours.

Please be aware that MA is not an emergency service. Contact medical professionals if needed.

A volunteer member from the Outreach Committee will contact you to follow up.

Updating or removing a meeting listing is easy, and should be done by a meeting facilitator.

Creating a New Meeting
Creating a meeting requires experience, strength, hope and willingness to facilitate the new meeting until regular attending members of the group are willing to also be of service to support the new meeting. There isn’t a specific length of sobriety time to start an MA meeting, however it is suggested to be sober from marijuana, alcohol and all self-prescribed mind-altering chemicals. If you are newly sober you may want to consider regularly attending a variety of MA meetings to learn the program of MA and build up some sobriety time before creating a new meeting yourself.

Learn more about creating a meeting and request a digital version of the New Meeting Starter Kit.

Listing a New Meeting
Once the meeting details have been coordinated such as; the Location where the meeting will take place either In-Person, Online or by Phone, what Day and Time the meeting will regularly meet, the Meeting Format, Attributes and a brief Meeting Description, then the new meeting is ready to be listed within the MA World Services Meeting Finder.

New meetings are typically added within 1 week of submission.
Complete the List a New Meeting Form.
