A New Leaf Publications (ANLP) is the publishing department of MA. A New Leaf Publications oversees and administers the publication, distribution, and business of MA literature and publications for the purpose of carrying the message of recovery and service to the society of Marijuana Anonymous and to entities outside of MA.
- Responsible for the literature after its creation, facilitating the process of getting the MA literature into the hands of members and the addict who is still suffering.
- Formats all MA Literature including pamphlets for their publication
- Oversees the distribution of Life with Hope, the MA Workbook, and Living Every Day with Hope
- Produces the monthly literary publication A New Leaf

ANLP Correspondence Editor

Job Requirements
The primary responsibility of the Correspondence Editor is to support the A New Leaf Content and Design Editors and communicate with members who submit content for publication in A New Leaf. Specifically, this includes:
- Communicating with members who submit content for publication in A New Leaf to let members know when their content is under review, being published, in need of revision, or being placed in the “not published” archives (utilizing templates and personalizing them as appropriate);
- Do not notify anyone if it’s being published before the final issue is being scheduled (13th) as stories are changed up until the last moment.
- Documenting and filing all content received by placing it in the appropriate folders on the ANLP Google Drive, and filling out the Tracking Spreadsheet
- Updating the Tracking Spreadsheet as needed as content is categorized as published, being edited, being shared with Stories Subcommittee, archived
- Working collaboratively as needed with the other ANLP Editors (the Content and Design Editors), and the Creative Designer to prepare each month’s issue of A New Leaf following ANLP’s Publication Schedule.
- Working collaboratively with ANLP’s Editors and Creative Designer to produce the “Daily Dose” emails with each day’s entry from MA’s book of daily reflections, Living Every Day with Hope as needed.
- Assisting the rest of the ANLP Department in reviewing each month’s content and issue of A New Leaf before it is sent out on the 13th.
- Maintaining regular communication with the ANLP Editors, Creative Designer, and the ANLP Chair to fulfill the above duties.
- Proactively assisting ANLP in organizing the ANLP Google Drive and developing systems for tracking content
Attending all required ANLP meetings, and communicating with the ANLP Chair in advance if you cannot attend any required ANLP meetings. Due to the collaborative nature of ANLP, it is necessary for all members to work together in regularly scheduled meetings. - Specifically, it is expected that all ANLP Department members attend:
- ANLP Monthly Department Meeting: Held every 2nd Sunday of each month at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET (approximately 2 hours)
- All Department members are expected to attend, report on the month’s activities, and actively participate in each month’s ANLP Department meeting, including voting on ANLP matters
- ANLP Steering Committee Meetings: Held every 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month from 5-6 pm PT / 8-9 pm ET. Working sessions to write sales copy, discuss vendors or ANLP strategy, draft/review announcements, revise website content and publication-related discussions.
- It is strongly encouraged but not mandatory that all ANLP members attend both ANLP Steering Committee meetings
- All ANL Editors are expected to attend at least the 1st of 2 monthly Steering Committee meetings (on the 2nd Thursday of each month) to finalize each issue of A New Leaf before the 13th
- Quarterly Editor Meetings: All Editors are expected to meet at least once each quarter to plan each quarter’s issues of A New Leaf and topics.
- ANLP Monthly Department Meeting: Held every 2nd Sunday of each month at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET (approximately 2 hours)
Other Skills and Expectations
- Google “Workspace” including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Docs (familiarity or the willingness and ability to learn);
- MailChimp (familiarity or the willingness and ability to learn);
- Ability to respond to emails sent to the Correspondence Editor email address in a timely fashion, usually within 48 hours (even if just to acknowledge receipt of the email and provide a time frame for providing a substantive response);
- Treat all fellow ANLP Department members, Special Workers, and MA members with dignity and respect; and
- ALL ANLP Department Members are expected to be of service as ANLP Liaisons by making ANLP-related announcements in the meetings they already attend, and encouraging other members to become ANLP Liaisons.
Qualifications
- The Correspondence Editor should have at least two (2) years clean and sober from marijuana, alcohol, and all other mind-altering substances (unless those other substances are taken as prescribed by a healthcare provider).
- Should a candidate not be found who meets these qualifications, the ANLP Department may vote to make exceptions within its discretion.
- The Correspondence Editor is a voting “Executive member” of the ANLP Department, under the meaning of the ANLP Charter
- Term: The Correspondence Editor can serve up to 2 total one-year terms
