A New Leaf Publications (ANLP) is the publishing department of MA. A New Leaf Publications oversees and administers the publication, distribution, and business of MA literature and publications for the purpose of carrying the message of recovery and service to the society of Marijuana Anonymous and to entities outside of MA.
- Responsible for the literature after its creation, facilitating the process of getting the MA literature into the hands of members and the addict who is still suffering.
- Formats all MA Literature including pamphlets for their publication
- Oversees the distribution of Life with Hope, the MA Workbook, and Living Every Day with Hope
- Produces the monthly literary publication A New Leaf

ANLP Design Editor
(former title: Publishing Editor) [Volunteer, appointed by ANLP Department]
Job Requirements
- Work collaboratively with the other two Editors, the Content Editor (volunteer) and the Creative Designer (Special Worker) to prepare each month’s issue of A New Leaf, MA’s monthly creative publication, and following the ANLP Department’s Publication Schedule.
- The Design Editor is responsible for formatting each month’s issue of A New Leaf by populating elected content into existing templates and using documented processes for scheduling each issue using MailChimp
- Populate content into MailChimp templates to format and schedule batches of “Daily Dose” emails with each day’s entry from MA’s book of daily reflections, Living Every Day with Hope; working with the Creative Designer
- Maintain regular communication with the other Editors (Content Editor and Creative Designer) and the ANLP Chair
- Attend all required ANLP meetings, and communicate with the ANLP Chair in advance if you cannot attend any required ANLP meetings, or will either be late or need to leave early. Due to the collaborative nature of ANLP, it is necessary for all Department members to work together in regularly scheduled meetings. Specifically, it is expected that the Design Editor attend:
- ANLP Monthly Department Meeting: Held every 2nd Sunday of each month at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET / 4pm UTC (approximately 2-3 hrs); All Department members are expected to attend, report on the month’s activities, and actively participate in each month’s ANLP Department meeting;
- ANLP Steering Committee Meetings: Held every 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month from 5-6 pm PT / 8-9 pm ET / 12-1 am UTC. It is highly suggested that all Department members attend each of the 2 one-hour long ANLP Steering Committee meetings for general ANLP strategy discussions.
- All ANL Editors are required to attend the 1st of two monthly hour-long ANLP Steering Committee meetings (on the 2nd Thursday of each month) to finalize each issue of A New Leaf before the 13th, including the letter from the Department.
- All Department members are highly suggested, but not required to attend the 2nd monthly ANLP Steering Committee Meeting, (on the 4th Thursday of each month) a “working session” for writing sales copy, discussing ANLP strategy, revising the Best Practices and job descriptions, preparing flyers and announcements, revising website content and publication-related discussions.
- Quarterly Editor Meetings: All A New Leaf Editors (the Design Editor, Content Editor, and Creative Designer) are expected to meet at least once each quarter with the ANLP Chair to plan each quarter’s issues.
Other Skills and Expectations
- Google “Workspace” including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Docs (familiarity or the willingness and ability to learn);
- Canva (familiarity or the willingness and ability to learn);
- Mailchimp (familiarity or the willingness and ability to learn);
- Respond to emails sent to the Design Editor’s ANLP email address in a timely fashion, within 48 hours (even if just to acknowledge receipt of the email and provide a time frame for providing a substantive response);
- Treat all fellow ANLP Department members, Special Workers, and MA members with dignity and respect; and
- ALL ANLP Department Members are expected to be of service as ANLP Liaisons by making ANLP-related announcements in the meetings they already attend, and encouraging other members to become ANLP Liaisons.
Qualifications

- The Design Editor should have at least two (2) years clean and sober from marijuana, alcohol, and all other mind-altering substances (unless those other substances are taken as prescribed by a healthcare provider.)

- Should a candidate not be found who meets these qualifications, the ANLP Department may vote to make exceptions within its discretion.
- Term: The Design Editor can serve up to 2 total one-year terms (2 total years)
