Job Description:

The eCommerce Online Store Manager “Special Worker” part-time employee supports A New Leaf Publications (ANLP), MA’s publishing department, in managing its online store which distributes Marijuana Anonymous (MA) literature worldwide. In collaboration with team members, they provide recommendations to optimize ANLP’s publication, sales, and distribution strategies, and assist in the ANLP Department’s decision-making regarding publishing, fulfillment, and vendors.

The ideal candidate understands 12-Step recovery programs and would support the purchasing experience for members. The objective of this role is to provide customer service, support the ordering and shipping process by resolving any customer issues that may arise, and work closely with ANLP’s warehouse, third-party logistics (3PL) companies and on-demand printers to ensure they maintain adequate inventory. The eCommerce Online Store Manager will work closely in collaboration with other stakeholders, including the ANLP Chair and other Department members, and the ANLP/MA Publishing Consultant, Webmaster, and Creative Designer Special Workers.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee and Enhance daily operations of Global WooCommerce Store: Communicate with 3PL companies and on-demand printers. Ensure efficient order fulfillment and that all processes run smoothly; troubleshoot, and resolve internal issues. Ensure ANLP’s warehouse and 3PL printers maintain adequate inventory of ANLP’s products. Respond to, and resolve, customer service issues. Project management, and suggest online store improvements.
  • Maintain eCommerce Operations: Direct regular, on-time payments to 3PL companies, on-demand printers and other partners while keeping MAWS Treasurer current with financial records. Remain vigilant of stocking needs, and re-stock product quantities as needed based on observing and tracking order volume.
  • Customer Service, Negotiation & Communication Skills:  Strong communication skills sufficient to work with, and negotiate with outside vendors and service providers to secure advantageous terms. Ability to promptly respond within 24 hours and at times, during regular business hours to emails and calls from customers, vendors and team members (ANLP volunteers, MA Trustees and Special Workers).
  • Maintain a Secure Online Shopping Experience: Provide service focused on selling MA literature worldwide. In collaboration with the MA Webmaster, ensure the online WooCommerce store is user-friendly, accessible, and that customer information is effectively safeguarded.
  • Collaborate with other team members: Make strategic proactive recommendations about improvements, and ensure product descriptions, images, and promotions are aligned with the goals and strategies of ANLP and other team members. Attend meetings with ANLP and other team members with a stake in the success of ANLP’s eCommerce operations. Most committee meetings occur on evenings and weekends, so some time worked on evenings and weekends is required. However, the ability to read and respond to emails and possibly phone calls during weekday business hours is also required.

Qualifications

  • Well Organized Independent Team Member with Collaborative Multitasking Abilities: Excellent time management, keeping multiple projects on track, and capable of prioritizing multiple projects and requests from customers, vendors and internal teams.
  • Creative, Analytical, and Efficient Problem Solver: Ability to work within existing policies, procedures and style guides. Attention to detail to quickly identify issues and communicate effectively about solutions to supervisors and team members before creating new policies and workflows.
  • Efficient Worker: Able to work independently, without on-site supervision, while being remote. Ongoing access to a home office with fast, reliable internet, PC or Mac capable of supporting printers and other peripherals, and Zoom for online meetings.
  • Technological Abilities: At minimum, must be a fast learner with the ability to learn softwares currently in use by ANLP and MA, with support from MA’s Webmaster and Creative Designer (Special Workers) and ANLP Chair. Ideally candidates would be proficient, or at minimum familiar, with WooCommerce (eCommerce platform), WordPress, and Google Workspace.
  • Understanding of eCommerce Regulations: Able to collaborate with the Publishing Consultant and MA Webmaster to ensure a secure online shopping experience, safeguard customer information, and ensure ANLP’s online store complies with applicable laws, rules, and regulations in the US, UK, EU, and internationally wherever ANLP does business.
  • Other Requirements
    • Familiarity with the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Concepts for Service in Marijuana Anonymous (or applicable 12-Step program).
    • 2 years of sobriety from marijuana, alcohol, and all other mind-altering substances (unless those other substances are taken as prescribed by a healthcare provider). Exceptions to the sobriety requirement may be made for candidates with the appropriate skill set and at least one (1) year of sobriety.
    • Eligibility to work in the United States. Resident of California or Washington (states where MA has the legally required insurance to be an employer). Qualified candidates residing in certain other states may still be considered, contingent on MA’s ability to acquire the needed policies in their state.

Time Commitment:

  • Hours: approximately 25 hours per month 
  • Meetings: Attends ANLP Meetings, including
    • ANLP’s monthly Department Meeting held monthly every 2nd Sunday from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm PT / 12:00 – 3:00 pm ET
    • ANLP’s twice-monthly “Steering Committee” meetings held monthly every 4th Thursday from 5:00-6:00 pm PT / 8:00 – 9:00 pm ET
  • Stays in communication with the Publishing Consultant and the ANLP Chairperson to communicate schedule and notifies them of any unavailability

Compensation:

  • Part-time, remote, at-will, Special Worker (Employee)
  • $32 per hour
