Job Description

MA World Services seeks a skilled web designer to help create a more engaging and accessible website that supports the growth of the MA fellowship. The ideal web designer would have excellent visual design skills and be capable of creating and adapting content based on feedback. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility in implementing progressive and ongoing changes within the current MA World Services website. Working knowledge of 12 Step programs would be beneficial but is not required.

 Qualifications

  • Eligibility to work in the United States, with access to a home office or similar facilities
  • Good understanding of search engine optimization principles
  • Ability to maintain attendance at meetings on weekday evenings and occasional weekends (PI Website Redesign Subcommittee meets every 2 weeks on Mondays at 5:30pm pacific)
  • Strong typing skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate
  • Ability to operate efficiently without on-site supervision
  • Access to an internet-connected computer
  • Ability to effectively use the software technologies employed by MA World Services
  • Proficiency in front-end development web programming languages such as HTML and CSS, jQuery, and JavaScript (helpful but not a requirement)
  • Suggested minimum one year of sobriety from marijuana, alcohol, and all mind-altering chemicals not prescribed by a medical professional

Job Responsibilities

  • Prioritize accessibility to meet and exceed legal compliance standards, such as Section 508, WCAG, and the ADA
  • Develop a design and site map navigation for the website that ensures the maximum access for visitors with varying needs and abilities
  • Establish cohesive design guidelines, standards, and best practices
  • Maintain the appearance of the website by enforcing content/brand standards
  • Design visual imagery to ensure compliance with branding and MA’s 12 Traditions

Compensation and Hours

  • Temporary, part-time employee “Special Worker”
  • $27 per hour
