Job Title: ANLP eCommerce Online Store Manager
Reports to: ANLP Chair, Internet Trustee, MA President, and other Trustees as needed
Job Description: The part-time eCommerce Online Store Manager “Special Worker” will support A New Leaf Publications (“ANLP”) in managing its online store which distributes Marijuana Anonymous (“MA”) literature worldwide. ANLP, the publishing department of MA, a nonprofit corporation, measures success by the reach of literature made available to its members worldwide, and member satisfaction, rather than by sales metrics. ANLP seeks an independent, creative thinker to improve the purchasing experience for members in service of MA’s primary purpose of carrying the message of recovery through the sale and distribution of MA literature.
The eCommerce Manager will oversee and enhance the global WooCommerce store, working with third-party logistics (3PL) companies and on-demand printers who ship orders to customers, and other vendors, for efficient order fulfillment. They will also collaborate with team members, proactively propose solutions to overcome ANLP’s existing distribution challenges, provide recommendations to optimize ANLP’s publication, sales, and distribution strategies, and assist in decision-making regarding the publishing, fulfillment, and 3PL services, all while working within, and in service of MA’s principles and 12 Traditions.
Qualifications:
- Technological Abilities: Skilled in using eCommerce platforms, especially WooCommerce, proficiency with WordPress, and other plugins. Familiar with Google Workspace and able to learn any other software used by ANLP.
- Customer Service, Negotiation & Communication Skills: Experience in providing customer service. Strong communication skills sufficient to work with, and negotiate with outside vendors and service providers to secure advantageous terms. Effectively communicate in writing, and on the phone, and be prompt in responding to emails and calls from customers and team members.
- Knowledge of International Commerce and Security Requirements: Experience with international eCommerce, and an understanding of the rules and regulations governing international online sales is highly desired. Able to collaborate with the MA Webmaster to ensure a secure online shopping experience, safeguard customer information, and ensure ANLP’s online store complies with applicable laws, rules, and regulations in the US, UK, EU, and internationally wherever ANLP does business.
- Remote Working: Ongoing access to a home office with fast, reliable internet. PC or Mac capable of supporting printers and other peripherals. On site or nearby storage unit for any products not managed by 3PL. Must be able to accept deliveries, and occasionally transport shipments to a U.S. Post Office within a reasonable distance (less than 5 miles).
- Collaborative Leader with Multitasking Abilities: Able to work independently, and efficiently without on-site supervision, but also as part of multiple teams. Excellent time management, keeping multiple projects on track, and capable of multitasking.
- Creative, Analytical, and Efficient Problem Solver. Attention to detail to quickly identify issues and communicate effectively about solutions to supervisors and team members.
- Other Qualifications: Candidates should reside in California or Washington (states where ANLP already has the legally required employment insurance and policies.) A working knowledge of the 12 Steps, Traditions, and Concepts for Service is highly desired, and 2 years of sobriety from marijuana, alcohol, and all other mind-altering substances (unless those other substances are taken as prescribed by a healthcare provider). Exceptions may be made for candidates with the appropriate skill set and at least 1 year of sobriety.
Job Duties:
- Oversee daily operations of Global WooCommerce Store: Communicate with 3PL and on-demand printers. Ensure processes run smoothly, troubleshoot, and resolve internal issues. Project management, make recommendations about vendors, and suggest website improvements. Occasionally pack, pick, and ship any products not managed by 3PL.
- Maintain a secure online shopping experience: Provide service focused on selling MA literature worldwide. In collaboration with the MA Webmaster, ensure the online WooCommerce store is user-friendly, accessible, and that customer information is effectively safeguarded.
- Collaborate with other team members: Make strategic proactive recommendations about improvements, and ensure product descriptions, images, and promotions are aligned with the goals and strategies of ANLP and other team members. Attend meetings with ANLP, the Internet Committee and other team members with a stake in the success of ANLP’s eCommerce operations. Most committee meetings occur on evenings and weekends, so some time worked on evenings and weekends is required,
Hours and Compensation:
- Part-time, remote, at-will, Special Worker, paid at the current hourly rate – $30/hour
